Distant coastal lights across a calm evening sea

Created from real life.

The Little Lights was created by a mum who found herself trying to hold onto so much information while supporting her neurodivergent child.

There were reports, appointments, school conversations, things she noticed at home, strategies that helped, things that didn't, and patterns she was trying to make sense of. Most of it was saved in different places — or simply being carried around in her head.

She wanted one place to keep it all together. Somewhere calm and simple that could help make the mental load feel a little lighter.

That idea became The Little Lights.

The name came from the image of a boat lost at sea, looking towards the coastline and seeing little lights in the distance. They don't give you the whole map, but they help you find your way back towards land.

That's what The Little Lights does for parents — small points of guidance, clarity and reassurance when things feel overwhelming or hard to make sense of. Built from one parent's experience, in the hope of making the journey feel a little less heavy for families already going through a lot.

How it all began

The Little Lights grew from lived experience: the work of noticing patterns, remembering what helped, preparing for appointments and trying to make thoughtful decisions while carrying a family's everyday life.

The digital platform is the heart of that mission — a calmer space for parents to organise what matters, understand patterns and feel less alone in everything they are holding.

Our upcoming books are growing from the same place. Mila Rose and her guardian cat, Meow Meow, will offer children gentle stories about confidence, difference, overwhelm and self-belief.

Together, the platform and the books will support two sides of the same family conversation: practical support for parents, and language and reassurance for children.
